Lake and Pond Fountain Designs

A pond fountain is far more than an ornamental device. Floating pond fountains aerate the water and ensure that proper gas exchange takes place. In applications where plants or animals which call the water home are dependent upon this, a pond aerator is a necessity rather than a luxury. Durability and reliability are among the primary concerns with these devices. Pond aerators increase circulation in the water which in turn decreasing the multiplying of algae in the pond or lake. Some of the lake fountains have optional light kits that transform a necessary lake aerator into a beautiful light show after dark.

Sturdy Construction

While all the available pond aerators are of the highest quality, one must make certain that they purchase a device which is up to the task. Generally, one can determine whether or not a particular lake aerator will meet their needs by referring to the horsepower. The larger, industrial models are excellent for mission-critical needs and large bodies of water.

Long Life

Generally, lake fountains and pond fountains are made to hold up to more abuse than are more ornamental fountains. These devices do a lot of heavy lifting during the day and, to that end, they employ durable parts. Sealed, oil lubricated components and provisions for excellent heat dispersion are frequent areas of concern for lake fountains.

Applications

Lake aerators and pond fountains are most appropriate for situations where the water must have certain gas content. The smaller units are excellent for Koi ponds and other such applications. The larger units can ensure that water features, such as those seen in parks and golf courses, can be kept fresh and healthy for their occupants.

Ease of Use

Most pond aerators float on the surface of the water. This allows them to remain free of debris from the bottom. They generally come with mooring devices, as well, so that they can be fixed to a certain spot in the pond. A pond fountain is a marriage of the practical and the aesthetic.
