Using a Water Fountain as a Focal Point in Your Home

202213sysimagemedium_1 No matter how much time, energy, and money you put into decorating, sometimes it still seems as if there's something missing. Somehow, the room doesn't quite have the oomph that you wanted for it. Many rooms that are beautifully decorated don't make the visual impact they could if they had a proper focal point. Water fountains serve wonderfully as eye-catching centerpieces for any room in your home - be it the foyer, living room, bedroom or sunroom.

Water fountains have innumerable benefits when used in the home. People naturally relax around the sound of flowing water - it eases the mind, melts stress, and helps clear away feelings of negativity. The flow of water also contributes to the humidity level in the home, which can potentially make you and your family much more comfortable. Many people find that they (and their children) can fall asleep easier aided by the soothing sounds, which block out distracting background noises.

202284sysimagemedium In most rooms, there's a clear spot that would benefit from a water fountain. Perhaps it's above your couch where you've currently got some bland artwork hanging, or the corner directly across from the entrance to the room. You'll want to place your fountain in a spot where it can be enjoyed by all who enter, but not where it will be upstaged by other decor, clutter, or a busy pattern. If possible, clear clutter away from the area where you plan to place your fountain - it will allow the natural beauty of the fountain to shine.

The purpose of using a fountain as a focal point is not only to give the room a more striking first impression, but also to accentuate positive points in your home and downplay any negative points. For example, if you were to place a wall fountain near peeling paint, worn-down furniture or water stains, you'd only be drawing attention to those aspects of the room. Placing a fountain under built-in lighting in between two nice wall sconces is much more effective.

Choosing the right fountain for your home depends on a few different factors, which we can also help you with.
