Using Fountains in Kids' Rooms
Nearly all parents have trouble, at some point or another, with getting their children to go to sleep – or even to wind down before bedtime, so that they can fall asleep faster and easier. They may have tried costly white noise generators, humidifiers, or playing some soft music. Sometimes, these kinds of things are effective and sometimes they’re not – and bulky equipment definitely doesn’t add to the décor of the room!
Use a decorative water fountain in your child’s bedroom! There are many positive effects of using water fountains in your home - why not let your kids enjoy them as much as the adults? The tranquil sound of running water is deeply soothing, and will help your kids drift off to sleep as well as mask noises that might otherwise keep them awake. An additional benefit is that fountain water naturally humidifies the room and also cleans the air by pulling dust particles out of it. The sound of gently flowing water can also help your infant sleep better, as it mimics the restful sounds of the mother's womb - which is proven to help deeply soothe and relax babies.
Keeping fountains safe and clean is simple! It's as easy as picking up a couple all-natural, chemical-free water treatments that will prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your decorative water fountain. Anti-algae and anti-white scale water treatments are highly effective, economical and completely safe around kids and pets, so no worries about negative consequences should your child manage to reach into the water. When using tabletop fountains, we recommend that you put it on a high shelf in your child’s room so that he or she cannot easily reach it, but you can take it down to clean it periodically and add the water treatments without too much effort.
A few helpful hints to keep in mind:
Clean your fountain and use water treatments regularly. Keep mold and bacteria from growing in the fountain by simply changing the water regularly, cleaning it every 2-3 months or so, and adding a weekly dosage (1 drop per gallon of water in your fountain) of anti-algae and anti-white scale water treatments to keep the water clean and safe. Be sure to keep an eye on the water level - add more as needed so the pump doesn't end up running dry, which can ruin it.
Choose kid-friendly designs, and keep fountains where your kids can’t reach into the water. We generally recommend tabletop or wall fountains for children’s rooms rather than floor fountains, as they can be placed out of the child’s reach so that he or she does not view it as a toy. Fountains with foggers or lights are especially fun for kids! Check out Homedics fountains, which often come with relaxing effects such as lights that change colors as they illuminate the water (bonus nightlight!), and nature sounds that play while the fountain is running. These fountains are small, easy to care for, economical and make great gifts too! Kids love them and will beg you to turn on their fountain before they go to bed.
