Do I Need to Use Distilled Water in my Fountain?
Distilled water will keep mineral deposits from forming in your fountain. Mineral deposits not only cause the fountain to look “dirty” but they will cause the pump to work harder and stop working sooner. Distilled water is free from minerals that can be found in tap water and if you do not add the minerals then the possibility of having to remove them later will be less likely.
Calcium, mineral and hard water deposits can be very challenging to remove once they accumulate so the best advice is to prevent them by using distilled water or an anti-white scale water treatment which can significantly reduce the need for distilled water.
